The Hitster Music Bingo Board Game can be played individually or in teams, and players have the opportunity to choose between two difficulty levels: Beginner (A-side) or expert (B-side) on either side of the board. The game is designed to be played with Spotify Premium for the best experience.

To start, decide whether to play individually or in teams. Select the difficulty level of the game, which determines which side of the gameboard you use. Mix the square music cards and place them face down on the specified categories on the game board. Distribute scorecards and marker pens to all players. Then open the Hitster app on your mobile device to start playing. Each swivel starts with spinning the disco ball, which will point to the category that both you and your opponents will play. The DJ then picks up the best music card from that category and scans the QR code with the Hitster app. When the song starts playing, players have 25 seconds to write down their replies on their scorecards. When the time has finished, the DJ will turn the card over to reveal the correct answer. Players check their answers and score points if they are correct and mark their scorecards accordingly. Play continues clockwise until a player or team completes a line on their scorecard and thus wins the game.

In the beginner mode, players answer questions such as whether the artist is alone or a group, whether the song was released before 2000, the decade of release, or the exact year in a certain range. In expert mode, players must identify the song title, artist or group name, the exact release year and other more challenging details. The first player or team to complete a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line on their scorecard wins. When a tie, play continues until a player takes the lead.
