Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy – A Blast from the past

Everyone enjoys reliving childhood memories, from revisiting old play areas where your friends used to hang out, to playing an old video game. There is nothing like that nostalgic feeling and that is what many people will get when they pick up a copy of Crash Bandicoot on PS4.  For those new to the series, you will get to enjoy the adventures of Crash Bandicoot for the first time which is just as exciting.

Crash Bandicoot is an iconic game originally out on the Playstation 1 and was the first major project developed by Naughty Dog who, have since made many other great games including Jak and Daxter and the Uncharted Series. The amazing popularity of Crash Bandicoot led to him being Playstation’s mascot for many years.

Vicarious Visions, who worked on a few of the other Crash Bandicoot games, are the team in charge of development for the remaster and have used all the original levels but have built up the gameplay and graphics from scratch. With updated 4K graphics and audio plus a few more features added in the N-Sane trilogy will be as amazing as the original but will match the standards of modern games.

Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy consists of the first 3 games in the series; Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex strikes back and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped.

When Doctor Neo Cortex uses his Evolvo-ray to experiment on turning animals into mutants with super strength he picked the wrong bandicoot! After Crash escapes he goes on a journey across the Wumpa Wumpa Islands to save the world and his girlfriend Tawna from Cortex.

After Cortex seems to have turned over a new leaf and offers to help contain the power from the upcoming planetary alignment, Crash agrees to search N. Sanity Island for the crystals Cortex is looking for. Joining him are his sister Coco and Doctor Nitrus Brio, who used to work for Cortex. After Cortex’s real plan is revealed, Brio convinces Crash to collect gems so that they can foil Cortex’s plan and Crash can redeem himself.

Crash and Coco return to once again stop Neo Cortex along with two new bad guys, Uka Uka and Doctor Nefarious Tropy as they try and collect crystals to enslave the earth.

Crash and Coco must travel through time with the help of Aku Aku in a race to collect the crystals first.

All three games were very well received when they first came out selling over 14 million copies worldwide between them which made them some of the top selling playstation games of all time.

The question is, just how different is The N-sane trilogy compared to the original games?

The graphics are in 4k and look a lot crisper than the original, because of this, the game would not look out of place if it was being sold now for the first time instead of being a remaster. The audio is sharper too making it just as good as modern games. This is in line with the developers pledge to bring the games up to date.

Along with better graphics and audio, additional features have been added to modernise the trilogy. These include: unified checkpoints, menus and saving as well as time trials, which originally only appeared in Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, across all three games. These changes should help Crash blast into the modern era of gaming.

Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy is set to be a hit with both old fans of the series and new fans so take control of Crash as you jump, spin and smash your way through the levels and save the world from the evil Doctor Neo Cortex.
